With AWS and Kubernetes knowledge, the move to the cloud, or just as importantly the move away from the cloud can be successful.

There are many factors to successful implementation of cloud based services. Moving applications and resources to the cloud will introduce new choke points in the operation of your business systems. New resource pools become available with the additional flexibility. Know these factors, include them in the deployment plan for a successful move to the cloud.

Factors to consider include the access pipeline to the cloud itself. While a minimum connection to the Internet is desired under traditional deployment, where only the web servers are of concern, this connection could be insufficient when all applications move to the cloud. Internet access is an area of concern that should be addressed as part of the movement to the cloud.

Moving away from desktop or laptop clients are another factor in moving to the cloud. A full implementation means virtual desktops become an option, where employees bring their own devices to the business. Spinning up a proper user environment can bring many benefits from security to reducing support calls.

Cloud operations appear to have come full circle, to the institutional memory of Naber Networks. Connecting terminals to an IBM 3270 mainframe back in the day appears eerily similar to cloud based services, only across a much larger geographic area.
